I recently stumbled upon 26th street between 6th Avenue and Broadway for a friend’s birthday. Who knew one block could possess so much goodness? Weeknight dates are hard to plan, because it has to be simple and quick enough to make sure you make it in to work the next day. However, you also don’t want it to be lame. Well, my friend, you are in luck, because 26th street has got everything you need.
THE FIRST
Maysville: Walking down 26th street from Broadway, Maysville will be on the right hand side- a quant little restaurant/bar. Boasting its diverse whiskey collection and southern cooking with a modern touch, Maysville is the sister of Char. No 4 located on Smith Street in Brooklyn. There is first come, first serve bar seating as well as table service, so whether you want a quick whiskey on the rocks or want to indulge in some grits or oysters, Maysville's got it all. Week nights get crazy crowded so keep your group small (its technically a date, but still) and try to get there early if you can.

THE SECOND
Melt Shop: The Melt Shop has many locations, but lucky for you there is one on 26th street. I don’t know many people who don’t enjoy a good grilled cheese, especially a gourmet grilled cheese (yes that is a thing). It's simple, it's low key, and it’s served with tots. It also says that you are trying just hard enough. Most people seem to think the Truffle Melt or Buttermilk Fried Chicken is the best, but we’ll let you figure that one out for yourself. I’m drooling just looking at the menu (attractive, yes I know).

THE THIRD
Flatiron Hall: Part restaurant, part beer hall, Flatiron Hall has something for everyone. Grab a seat at the bar upstairs or head down stairs to the beer cellar. I recently had an Old Fashion here and it was the best I have had in recent memory. It's causal and full of Yo-Pros (young professionals- love that abbreviation). They also serve a massive soft pretzel with a great beer cheese dip. Grab a nightcap, or two, and unwind from a long day. You’ll be glad you did.

If you are still up for it, check out some of the other spots on the block, as there are plenty to choose from. Check out a map of this date here. Enjoy!
